So, I've been bored lately Jun. 21st, 2005 @ 02:49 am
So, what has Tom been up to you ask?

Well its quite simple: I've seen Batman: Begins two times within 24 hours.
Other than that, I've been rather bored. However! There has been a cure!
A cure which resides in my own heart, my own motivation and will power not to be bored.
In desperate times such as these, I probe the inner depths of my subconcious to create these!
My wonderful movies.

So without further explanation... here they are:

Everytime I sit down and decide to write in my LiveJournal, I always try to create something meaningful, profound, and intelligent. As many of you can attest... this never happens. I come intending to write philosophy that could contend with the likes of Aristotle, but instead spend my time linking to things like this.

Last week while I was driving home I decided I'd write something about the oddities of life, specifically, how bad things always seem to happen during the best moments of life. I had come up with a witty prelude to the topic if I ever turned it into a short story so, needless to say, I was rather pleased with myself... then my power steering cut out. Irony's a bitch ain't it? Upon arriving home I found out that the engine belt handling the rotation of most of the things in need of spinning had come off while I was driving around. The belt's desire to further antagonize my life being unsatiated, it had more fun at my expense by obliterating the wheel of my power steering. Apparently, if I had spent 10 minutes longer on the road, my car would have completely broken down. Wonderful eh?

I was originally planning on writing an entire tiraid about my car and unfortunate events that have recently occured: It was going to be hilarious, witty, and incredibly enjoyable to read. But now, all I can do is wonder why the hell my keyboard is so dirty (to the perverts out there: #1 get your mind out of the gutter #2 I use a plastic cover, thank you). It really is quite perplexing, I'm generally not a dirty kid, yeah occasionally I'll forget to take a shower for a week or two but otherwise I'm about the cleanest cat in town. It really is amazing how much crap can be stored on your finger tips, I like to think that I keep my hands relatively clean but looking at my keyboard and how brown some of the marks are on it I almost shudder.

On a completely unrelated note, since I've been grounded (I won't bother explaining here, if you want the info just ask) I've had a lot of time to do things like... semi-learn how to use Photoshop. Look for some of the stuff up here eventually (I'm working on some sidebars... for the sides), it should be first class material.

Really, I swear this post was going to be interesting.
» Prom
To start off: Thanks for coming along Jill, you looked stunning, and as always you were amazingly fun to hang out with.

Two words can really sum up the experience: FUN; Awkward.
Many of you out there might look at the two words and think "wtf?" Normally awkward is bad, and rarely if ever, coincides with fun (this is of course disregarding sitcoms where awkward is a synonym for funny). Well, my life is very sitcom-esque and for the most part, the awkward moments are the best, and I have a lot of those moments. Prom was essentially filled with them.

example:
After the initial photo-op with Jill and the entrance of the limo I am flung forward 5 feet through the air as we come to a sudden stop. Sadly, I was not outdoors so my watch couldn't fly off and get hit by a car.

Interestingly enough, the last actually funny awkward moment happened at the end of the evening/morning in the limo as well with me entirely missing a seat and sprawling out on the ground.

Anyway back to the actual 'real person' things that happened at prom.

Might as well start off with the limo ride. Jill and I got picked up at 4 for the supposedly 3-4 hour limo ride and as mentioned before I went airborne. Picked up Kyle and his date Emma, then went on to pick up everyone else at Mike's house. Apparently the MIAA Championships were on Saturday causing Brian's date to be rather late (the MIAA's ended at 4:30 and we were picking up at 5:30). Eventually, the group picked her up at an Exxon station. With a completely packed limo we then headed on to Marriott Waterfront which was, as we learned a short while later, not the Marriott where we were having our prom. We arrive at the Waterfront, get all of our bags out and start walking in with our limo about to drive off when one of the door men stops us and mentions there's no prom at the hotel this evening. Wonderful. We managed to stop our limo before it got off and we drove to the other Marriott in downtown Baltimore.

Upon arrival at the correct destination we were still half an hour early to prom so we stood around in the lobby for a bit doing a whole lot of nothing. During this period of time I found out that the bathrooms of the Marriott Inner Harbor beep... frequently. Its mildly disturbing. Anyway, we were finally allowed in so Jill and I got the picture thing done right away so it wouldn't have to be done later. After which was dinner. The food was tasty.

Kyle Jackson got the dance floor started with an absolutely amazing routine. You had to be there to realize the full grandeur of it. For those interested, I got some of it video taped and if you want I'll send it to you. After the dance floor had been sufficiently 'warmed' there was lots of dancing, and lots of hot. By hot, I'm referring to the temperature of course, it was disgustingly hot on the dance floor, ask Jill she'll be happy to tell you how much I was sweating out there. The majority of the prom-proper was going back and forth between dance floor and Dave's table drinking up and cooling off and then getting back out and dancing some more. Eventually though, it all ended and the main prom was over so Jill and I got changed and boreded one of the coach buses to head to Jillian's.

Interesting things that happened on the bus ride:
1. I did not win $100
2. It's been decided that I am actually Brandon Fraser
3. Contemplation of grabbing the weird old guy's balls
4. The ride was much shorter than expected
5. Why are the lights off? And why are they making such a big deal of keeping them off?

While I had an awesome time at Jillian's I was rather dissappointed with it. The games available to play were not incredibly entertaining (unless you wanted to wait forever to bowl or play some billiards). The most entertaining portion of the Jillian's trip could've occured at a diner instead of a place that cost us something like $20,000 to rent out, ah well, regardless, it was incredibly hilarious, fun, and exhausting. The morning finished up with prize drawings where I didn't win anything, but Josh won a fantastically new Dell laptop. Congrats Josh, I hate you.

Eventually left post-prom and boarded el limo where I reintroduced the limo floor to me falling on it. Drove home, dropped Jill off at her house and then walked home. All in all, it was an absolutely fantastic evening (and morning too).
» Life the Universe and Everything
Brief entry because I'm lazy, don't feel like writing but have decided that an update is in order. Due to this I'll update in bullet form:

- AP weeks. Already took the AP Calculus one, I can say with a strong sense of worthlessness that I'm almost 100% certain I got a 1 on it. Physics and Econ are looking a bit brighter though.

- Things are ending. I can't tell whether I should be happy or incredibly aggrivated. Things that I've loved or grown to love over the past four years are all grinding to a sudden, and sometimes unpleasant halt. No more Calculus with perhaps the best math teacher I'll ever have (I didn't learn much of anything but that's more my fault than his), last real Physics class with one of the oddest but most enjoyable science teachers I've ever had.

- On that note of things ending rugby, one of the best things that happened to me at Calvert Hall (lets face it, without Rugby I'd probably be a big fat computer nerd with no life... well at least I didn't turn into one of those) ended in one of the worst ways possible. Half the team quit because they didn't want to lose in playoffs leaving me and a few other guys to just wonder "What the fuck."

- Prom is in a week, I'm going with the amazing Jill. Really looking forward to the evening/morning should be an incredibly awesome time.

- Despite the reference in the title of this entry I have not been able to go and see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this aggrivates me.

- Hostile Intent 1.4 has finally been released so I'm currently breathing a sigh of relief (www.hostileintent.org). I've spent roughly a year working on animations for the game and I'm fairly pleased with the product hopefully a bunch of people will get to play it and have an enjoyable time.

- Oh and last but not least: I'M GOING TO BUCKNELL

Alright, well that about wraps up this update, who knows I might update later, maybe not.
